East of England Ambulance Update

The East of England Ambulance Service has announced plans to transform how patients receive care across Essex and the wider region, with a greater focus on providing treatment closer to home where appropriate.
Under the new Patient Plan, hospital admission will no longer be the automatic outcome for every patient. Instead, specialist clinicians will support decision-making earlier, helping ensure people receive the most suitable care in the right setting.
The strategy aims to improve response times for the most seriously ill patients, reduce avoidable hospital attendances and strengthen links between ambulance crews, GPs, hospitals, mental health services and community healthcare teams.
The changes, due to be rolled out by 2030, will also see enhanced staff training, expanded specialist roles and closer integration between NHS 111 and 999 services to provide more joined-up patient care.
East of England Ambulance Service says the approach is designed to help patients access the right support more quickly while ensuring emergency resources are available for those who need them most.
