Important update: Old Mid and South Essex Hospital Phone Numbers to Be Switched Off from 31 August 2026
Patients are being reminded that all old telephone numbers for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust hospitals will be permanently switched off from 31 August 2026.
After this date, the old numbers will no longer work. Callers will not hear a recorded message, and calls will not be redirected to the new numbers.
The Trust introduced new main hospital switchboard numbers in January 2026, and patients should now use the following numbers:
Southend University Hospital: 0300 443 0002
Broomfield Hospital: 0300 443 0001
Basildon University Hospital: 0300 443 0003
If you have saved an old hospital number in your phone or address book, please update it now to avoid any disruption when contacting your hospital. The Trust also has a central contact number, 0300 443 0000, which can help direct callers to the appropriate hospital or service.
