Do we need more community pharmacies in Southend?

Every three years Southend City Council has to prepare a statement of what services are needed from community pharmacists (a chemist in the high street or in a supermarket), and where these should be. This helps the NHS decide whether more or different services are needed.
You might already have taken part in a survey, asking you about how often you use a pharmacy, how you get there and the services you need. Your answers have now been analysed and added to what the Council and NHS know about existing pharmacies. They think the pharmacy services we have meet your needs, although a large housing development, like Fossett’s Farm, could change that in the future.
Although members of the public have fed in to this work, there is an opportunity for you to comment on the Needs Assessment. This is a wordy document, but we felt you should still have a chance to read it and comment:
The consultation period starts on Wednesday 18 June and ends on Monday 18 August 2025.
