New number for blood test bookings...

A message from the NHS:

New telephone number for booking blood test appointments

From Wednesday 13 September 2017, the telephone number to book a blood test appointment will be changing to 01702 746065.

Patients who need to book a blood test appointment at a hospital or clinic in Basildon, Thurrock or Southend can do this using the online booking system or by contacting the telephone call centre.

Until now there have been three numbers to choose from to book blood tests by telephone. From Wednesday 13 September, these will be replaced by one new number – 01702 746065. The new system will automatically direct callers to the next available call handler.

How to book blood tests

Patients can book online or over the telephone and can specify all of their blood test requirements, such as fasting, glucose intolerance, warfarin (INR), so the most suitable time can be offered.

Booking online:

Appointments can be made online by visiting a dedicated blood tests page on the respective hospital website:

- For Basildon and Thurrock visit: www.basildonandthurrock.nhs.uk/blood-tests-online

- For Southend visit: www.southend.nhs.uk/for-patients-visitors/blood-tests

Patients simply click on the ‘book online’ button under the hospital or clinic they wish to visit. They will then need to follow the instructions on how to register and select the date and time for their blood test. An automatic email confirmation is then sent to the patient.

Booking over the telephone:

From Wednesday 13 September, patients who wish to book a blood test over the telephone should call: 01702 746065. The line is open Monday to Friday, 7.30am-5pm (excluding UK public holidays).
