Your voice in local health and social care

Healthwatch in the community

healthwatch in the community

Healthwatch Southend organises regular community events where we discuss a specific health or social care issue affecting people in Southend. Each event lasts for approximately three hours and is based around short presentations from guest speakers. These may be people who commission services in Southend, people who are involved in shaping health policy, or people who provide care, either under the umbrella of the NHS, or through a charity or a support group. We also try to include speakers who have personal experience of the issues that are being discussed.

At the end of each event we open the discussion to comments and questions from the audience.

We feel that there is enormous benefit in having those who are involved in the commissioning and provision of health and social care in the same room as some of the people who use these services. We hope that, in the long term, some of the issues discussed will be taken into consideration and used to improve services in a way that better meets the needs of local people.

The following pages gather together presentations and reports from these events, along with useful links to relevant information elsewhere on the internet.
